Gearshift VR

Overview
š Reimagining car showrooms and garages through Virtual Reality Sharing my undergraduate research project GearShift VR, a VR-based car configurator designed to enhance customer experience in automotive retail. š Overview The project explores how Virtual Reality can overcome limitations of traditional showrooms by enabling immersive vehicle exploration and interactive customization. It was designed as two integrated modules: ⢠Car Showroom ā explore models and variations ⢠Car Garage ā visualize modifications (paint, alloys, body kits) š» Technical Implementation Built in Unreal Engine 5.3 with Meta XR for standalone Meta Quest 2 & 3. Optimization techniques included LODs, mipmapping, MSAA, and other performance-focused practices. Assets were created in Blender and 3ds Max, with Datasmith used for efficient pipeline integration. šÆ Contribution Demonstrates a scalable approach to applying VR in automotive retail, improving decision-making while reducing physical showroom constraints.
